This past weekend seemed to contain a bombardment of graduation ceremonies and celebrations. I was honored to be able to witness many friends graduate from high school, opening a new chapter of their lives. This year, I am going to finish my high school academic studies and decided to share with you all what I will be doing with my life. :)
Having just recently turned 17, I am still a little bit young to be graduating from high school. Next school year, I will continue to play sports and enjoy my final season as a Senior. After graduating, I would like to continue being involved with sports and coach as well. I also plan to referee Upward basketball again this Winter, as I really enjoyed that last year.
Academically, I am going to begin Trinity School of Natural Health's Certification in Nutritional Counseling program via distance learning. This program will allow me to self-school and continue learning at home, while furthering my education in the practical field of nutrition, which is of great interest to me. You can check out the program here: https://www.trinityschool.org/programs.php?id=5
Additionally, I will be working through a program of study in the realm of theology and Church History that I've compiled for myself through books, sermons, and other resources. I've thoroughly enjoyed the writings of Rushdoony and Calvin that I've read this past school year, and am looking forward to continuing to study their works, as well as the works of others. I've always taken interest in Biblical Studies and have generally read a book or listened to a sermon on the side of other things, but I am looking forward to this study, as it will be a little more formal and will keep me more accountable. It will also lengthen the amazing adventures of quote un-quote Ethics with Mercy! ;)
While school and sports will no doubt occupy a large portion of time, I will also continue to work doing my various child care and cleaning jobs, as well as the work I am doing for Aloha Publishing. I am thankful for the work opportunities I've been blessed with, and the experience and skills I've gained!
I would really like to get more involved in ministry and working with kids. I figure God gave me younger siblings for a reason, so I am working to spend more time with each of them. I am super excited that Hope has asked me to teach her things about basketball and am planning to spend time in the gym working on basketball skills with her this Summer! I am also looking into a youth mentoring program, which I am really excited about, though it will probably not get started until after the school year begins.
I am going to be counseling at Vacation Bible School through our church this Summer, which is a great opportunity for kids in the community who aren't church attenders to come and learn about God's Word. It's also a lot of fun for the kids, and I enjoy getting to know each child in my group throughout the week.
God has been revealing Himself to me in so many ways these past few months, and I am thankful for all that He is teaching me! May His peace rule in each of your hearts.
"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body and be thankful." Colossians 3:15
