Christmas

Christmas 2010 was a great day! Our family spent Christmas eve cleaning our house, and then had a family from our church over. We played a serious game of Pictionary tag team style - it was a blast but we found out how competitive some people are!! The final score was Girls:4, Boys:1. :) after they left, we had our family Christmas devotions. We all sat down and then got quiet and my Dad goes, "now for the Christmas story. tWas the night before Christmas" we all laughed and then has real devotions. :)

Christmas morning came and I was able to stay in bEd all the way until 8! Usually my siblings dome jump on me. One cinnamon role later, I was no longer bleary eyed and ready for the day! We opened gifts and it was really sweet to see how much thought people put into their gifts and especially watching my sisters faces as the person opened the gift from them. Holly would just get sooo excited she would just jump up and down and squeal. :)

My parents made crepes and we had a brunch together. We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon helping each other with our new gifts (Actually I mostly just stole Haydens sports illustrated and read it :D) My Mom made this really yummy dinner and my sister Holly wanted us all to dress up for it. :) Ww had this really awesome dessert with rasperries and cream and cake stuff so good!!

I am really, really blessed with an amazing family... My brother and I are leaving early in the morning for another Christmas with our other family. :) the highlights of this Christmas were Holly naming her stuffed animal "Coach Pete", Hope asking if the laser pen she got would melt stuff, and the many smiles. I have to say that I got a pair of BSU basketball shorts that are really cool and Mercy will be pleased to know that I got my very own vanilla chai latte mix :D

I hope and pray that we remember the true gift of Christ and remember it always... Not just at Christmastime!

2010 Out, 2011 In

I cannot believe that 2010 is almost over! It amazes me at how quickly this year went by! And how slowly it seemed to go by some times. :)

2010 was a pretty eventful year for my family and me. January and February our games started for my brother and me who played basketball. This was such a blessing to both us, but especially for me. I love the sport and I was really blessed to be apart of the team. I learned a lot! In April, I turned 15 and my Mom surprised me with a birthday party. I also started working on basketball with my coach a few days a week! We went out through the Spring and Summer together and I have been so blessed by this time... I improved so much basketball wise and it was also really cool getting to spend time with her. In May, we finished up the school year at the Vineyard Co-op (basically 1/2 homeschooling, 1/2 co-op schooling). The year at the Vineyard was a really good experience and I learned a lot through it. At first I struggled because I so did not want to go, and at the end I struggled because I so wanted to stay. We are now homeschooling all the way this year (except for Hayden) and it's been a good thing! In June, my brother and I went to Pittsburgh to see our Dad and his family for a long visit. I also was very, very blessed to go to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Camp! It was such a fun week of worship, sports, and hard work! I met some really cool people and learned lots. (Also ate a lot of food... but then I looked over at the football boys table and it didn't even compare, lol) During the Summer, my Mom was in and out of the hospital and on bed rest most of the time. This was a bit of a rough patch for our family but God really worked. Since my Mom was down and out, my Grandmary came up from Texas to visit us. It was really special to spend time with her and she also helped us out a lot. My Mom is getting much better and is pretty much back to normal again. In July, I helped out with Vacation Bible School at our church. I got a group of adorable 3rd and 4th graders and had lots of fun spending the week with the kids. In August, I started my Junior year of high school and volleyball season also started. I had quite a time learning the new sport of volleyball but was so blessed in being able to play. October and Hannah is driving! I have my permit! In November, our family took a road trip to California to visit some family. In addition to seeing cousins and family, we also got to go to Disneyland which was so much fun! December is now here and we're busy preparing for Christmas and just enjoying no school work. :D Basketball season is also in swing and I am very excited for the games to start soon! I also read through the Bible this year (well not quite done yet... but I will be by 2011 :D) Those are the highlights... I probably missed a bunch, lol.

This year has been a big year of growth for me in so many ways. It has probably been the hardest year I have lived through, but so rewarding. I see God working in my life and countless others and am so blessed to be a part of His perfect plan! I have cultivated relationships with people I've known and met many new people as well.

In 2011 I just plan to keep living life and walking in God's will... playing sports, school, church, and just keeping up with life. :) So that's a little glimpse into my 2010!!

Basketball!

So, I have been super excited for basketball since the last season ended! And now that practices have started, it makes me happy :-)

But yesterday's practice was really, really especially fun! Four of the girls from the BSU basketball team came out to practice and taught us some stuff and then we scrimmaged with them! It was a blast and it was a really big blessing to me, and I am sure to the rest of the team as well.

I also thought that it really showed Christ-like, self-sacrificial love because it was their day off and they could have been studying, sleeping, relaxing, whatever, but they chose to invest their time into us girls. :-) So not only was it super fun to have them there, but they showed us how to be like Christ by coming out.

I am super excited for the rest of the season! And to get to know my team-mates better. All to say that practice yesterday was way fun and it made me stoked for the rest of the season! AND to go out to BSU on Saturday to see their game. :-)
